  27. I am experiencing problems compiling a (big) program.
  28. I am using AmosPro 2.0 (all three updates) and the Procompiler.
  29. The 'long jump' option is used.
  30. I have an A500, 1chip and 2fast. Kick1.3 and 2.0
  31.  
  32. The program I compile makes no use of any extensions other than
  33. those supplied with apro. The program can be run using amos1.3 too.
  34. No special pro-commands are used. The program uses no special
  35. graphical commands (expect dual playfield and screen offset).
  36. The program needs more than 400kb of 'set buffer' to work properly.
  37. And that brings me to the problem, the prog works fine when run in
  38. amos. The 1.3compiler compiles it and when started (any of amos/cli/wb)
  39. the prg starts and gives a 'software failure' for no clear reason
  40. I tried putting lots of 'wait key' in the program to find what goes
  41. wrong but this shows the prg supposedly crashes at things like
  42. 'text x,y,'ok'' or such lines.
  43. The procompiler works better but still crashes after keypresses.
  44. It ALWAYS crashes. And it doesn't seem to matter what happens.
  45. Compiling other programs works fine and big programs like the
  46. 'TOMEmap editor' (280k) compile ok (under 1.3 of course). Compiling
  47. on other computers (A2000 1chip, 2fast, 25mhz '30 '882 4Mb) the
  48. result is (of course ?) the same: software failure.

  50. Can you give me information on things I should DEFENITLY look at
  51. when compiling ?
  52. Like settings of variabeles (intitializing them and so on)
  53. I had the 'varchecker' from the easylife distribution go over the
  54. program and it did find some 20 'undeclared' vars in some
  55. 260K of program code.
  56. The prog contains very, very many string-operations.
  57. Can these be at fault ?

  59. If you have any experience in compilings that go wrong, post them
  60. please as I am sure a good compilation of 'amos-errors'
  61. (exuse me: 'amos-features' :-| ) would be to everone's benefit.
  62. If you already have such a 'list' : please post it ?
